When Stacey started up her dog walking and pet sitting service Playful Paws, her goal was simple: To provide her clients with peace of mind. As a cat and dog mom herself, she knows firsthand how difficult it can be to find someone trustworthy, reliable, and nurturing to care for one’s pets. She is dedicated to alleviating that worry and stress by providing professional, compassionate, high quality care when pet parents can’t be there. Her company is also strictly against any forms of aversive training techniques such as e-collars, prong collars or any other such equipment that causes pain or uses force. She strives herself on using positive reinforcement that is backed by current science based techniques.
A former veterinarian assistant, Stacey is especially perceptive and attuned to a pet’s medical needs, understands and adheres to veterinary instructions, and is trained to observe changes in an animal’s physical condition. This is especially important in senior pets as well as pets with special medical needs. Stacey is also insured and licensed as well as trained in Pet First Aid through dogsafe canine first aid. In addition, Stacey is a certified dog walker through the dog*tec Dog Walking Academy. The only program of its kind for dog walkers, this widely respected program covers a comprehensive array of topics critical to professional dog walking, including canine behaviour, basic training predicated on positive reinforcement, pack management, and First Aid and safety protocols.
Stacey also believes that continuing her education in animal behaviour is important and attends conferences and seminars on an array of science based animal behaviour topics. You will often find her reading a number of books on dog behaviour from some of the most trusted, respected and science based positive reinforcement behaviourists and trainers.
Beyond her experience and credentials, both pets and people respond to Stacey's gentle, patient nature. She views each animal as an individual, taking the time to get to know and understand their unique needs, personality and quirks. Stacey fully believes in treating every pet with kindness, respect and dignity. For Stacey, pet sitting is more than a job, it's her passion. Being trusted to care for someone else’s pets is a true privilege and she feels blessed to be trusted with your special furbaby. She does not take this responsibility lightly.
